Albeiron Jaramillo says he was the victim of a suspected scam while selling a camera through Facebook Marketplace, an incident he claims resulted in the loss of both the equipment and his savings.
According to Jaramillo, the person interested in buying the camera presented a screenshot that appeared to confirm a bank transfer. However, the payment was never reflected in his account. He said he later realized he had delivered the camera without first verifying that the funds had been successfully received.
Alleged Exposure During the Meeting
Jaramillo also alleged that he was exposed to an unidentified substance during the meeting with the supposed buyer, leaving him disoriented. He believes this contributed to his decision to hand over the camera before confirming that the transfer had cleared.
The allegation has been made by Jaramillo in a video shared on his social media accounts. No official findings regarding the claimed substance were included in his statement.
Appeal for Public Assistance
In the video, Jaramillo described the sequence of events and shared images and information that he said could help identify the individual involved. He encouraged members of the public to share his account in hopes of expanding its reach and supporting any potential investigation.
He also asked anyone who recognizes the person shown in the video or has information related to the incident to contact him privately or notify the appropriate authorities.
Reminder for Online Marketplace Users
Jaramillo urged people buying and selling items through online marketplaces not to hand over merchandise until they have confirmed that payment has been successfully credited to their bank account. His account serves as a reminder of the importance of verifying electronic transactions before completing sales arranged through digital platforms.
