The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort has unveiled an exclusive collaboration with Ron Matusalem, introducing the St. Regis Cap Cana Rum: Ethereal Shores Collection, a private-label, limited-edition rum created exclusively for guests of the luxury resort in the Dominican Republic.
The release marks the resort’s first collaboration in the spirits sector and reflects its focus on offering distinctive experiences that celebrate Dominican craftsmanship, local heritage, and the upscale hospitality for which the St. Regis brand is known.
A Limited Collection Inspired by Cap Cana
Limited to just 200 individually numbered bottles, the Ethereal Shores Collection was developed over two years under the direction of Master Blender Cynthia Vargas. The blend combines American oak ex-bourbon barrels with French oak ex-cognac casks, using aging techniques refined by Ron Matusalem over five generations.
According to the resort, the resulting rum offers a layered flavor profile featuring notes of vanilla, coconut, and caramel, complemented by dried figs, raisins, ripe stone fruits, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
“After two years of development, Ethereal Shores Collection represents our first collaboration in the world of spirits, and from the very beginning we knew it had to be created with a house that shares the heritage and craftsmanship of Ron Matusalem,” said Laura Santoni, General Manager of The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort.
Luxury Design With a Sustainable Approach
Each bottle is presented in a handcrafted crystal decanter accented with gold details and housed in a premium presentation case made from an innovative sustainable material composed of wood powder sourced from Bordeaux forests and cornstarch.
The design is intended to evoke a bottle emerging from the shoreline, reflecting the white-sand beaches and coastal landscape that define Cap Cana’s identity.
Celebrating Dominican Rum Heritage
Ron Matusalem has produced its rum in Monte Plata, Dominican Republic, since relocating its production operations to the country in 2016. Today, the distillery is led by Claudio Álvarez Renaud, continuing a family legacy spanning more than 150 years.
The brand’s portfolio includes Gran Reserva 15, Gran Reserva 23, Insolito—described as the category’s first pink rum—and Matusalem Sublime, an ultra-limited release introduced in 2022 with only 450 bottles produced worldwide.
Exclusive Experiences for Resort Guests
To mark the launch, The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort has developed a series of immersive experiences centered on the new collection. Guests will be able to participate in guided tastings, a signature Quisqueya Mary cocktail workshop at The St. Regis Bar, and an intimate launch event at The Amber Room, the resort’s lounge dedicated to premium rum and cigars.
Throughout the season, the Ethereal Shores Collection will also be available at the resort’s restaurants and bars, including NINA by Chef Diego Muñoz. Guests will additionally have the opportunity to purchase one of the limited-edition bottles as a collectible reflecting the craftsmanship and luxury associated with both the resort and one of the Dominican Republic’s best-known premium rum producers.
