Arajet will temporarily suspend its nonstop service between Punta Cana and Santiago, Chile, from August 1 through September 9 as the airline adjusts its route network amid limited aircraft availability.
The Dominican low-cost carrier emphasized that the suspension is temporary and does not represent a withdrawal from the Chilean market. Flights are scheduled to resume on September 10, when the airline plans to increase frequency to daily service ahead of Chile’s Independence Day travel period.
Capacity Increase Planned for September
Arajet currently operates the Punta Cana–Santiago route three times per week using Boeing 737-8 aircraft configured with up to 189 seats. The service provides approximately 1,134 weekly seats across both directions.
Once operations resume, the airline expects the additional daily flights to accommodate stronger seasonal demand from Chilean travelers visiting Punta Cana while also offering more connections to destinations throughout the Caribbean and the Americas.
Chile Remains a Strategic Market
The airline said the temporary suspension is driven solely by aircraft availability as it continues to manage its growing route network. Arajet has repeatedly identified Chile as one of its most important international markets and maintains plans to strengthen its presence there.
According to the carrier, the expanded September schedule will also improve connectivity to its network of 29 destinations, allowing passengers from Chile to connect through the Dominican Republic to other regional markets.
Expansion Plans Continue
Arajet expects to continue expanding its international operations as additional aircraft are incorporated into its fleet. The airline has positioned Punta Cana as one of its key hubs for connecting travelers across Latin America and the Caribbean, with Chile remaining an important part of its long-term growth strategy.
