The Dominican Petroleum Refinery (REFIDOMSA) announced that it has successfully completed a scheduled maintenance and regeneration shutdown of its U-200 and U-300 processing units, a project carried out between June 20 and July 2, 2026 as part of its ongoing efforts to improve operational performance and ensure a reliable fuel supply for the Dominican Republic.
According to the company, the maintenance campaign included more than 1,000 preventive and corrective maintenance activities, work on 88 critical processing assets, and approximately 50,000 work hours completed without a single incident or workplace accident.
Operational Reliability and Fuel Quality Improved
REFIDOMSA said the successful regeneration of both units is expected to enhance the quality of the fuels produced while strengthening the mechanical integrity of key refinery equipment. The project also increases the operational reliability of the facilities, supporting the company’s long-term commitment to technical excellence and uninterrupted operations.
René González, Senior Manager of Civil Projects and Maintenance at REFIDOMSA, said the scheduled shutdown achieved all of its objectives thanks to careful planning, coordinated execution, and the commitment of the teams involved.
“We completed this shutdown with the satisfaction of achieving all of our planned objectives. The regeneration of the U-200 and U-300 units strengthens the quality of our products and allows us to continue operating with facilities that are more reliable, safer, and more efficient as we meet the country’s fuel needs,” González said.
More Than 1,000 Maintenance Tasks Completed
The refinery reported that maintenance teams carried out specialized inspections, component replacements, mechanical cleaning, and other technical interventions designed to preserve the integrity of critical equipment and extend its operational lifespan.
González also recognized the work of the Maintenance and Plant Shutdown departments, which planned and executed the project, along with the Operations team, responsible for coordinating activities throughout the intervention. He also highlighted the role of the Health, Safety and Environment department in ensuring that all work was performed under strict safety protocols.
Supporting the National Fuel Supply
With the completion of the planned shutdown, REFIDOMSA said it has strengthened the reliability and efficiency of its industrial assets while reinforcing its commitment to responsible asset management.
The company stated that these improvements will help maintain the continuity and reliability of fuel production, supporting the supply of petroleum products to the Dominican Republic’s domestic market and enhancing the refinery’s long-term operational resilience.
