Santo Domingo to Offer Free Public Transportation During 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games

Public transportation services in Santo Domingo will be available free of charge during the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, scheduled to take place from July 24 through August 8, 2026.

The initiative includes buses operated by the Office for Bus Services (OMSA), the Santo Domingo Metro, and the Santo Domingo Cable Car. The measure forms part of the government’s logistical support plan aimed at facilitating transportation and ensuring the smooth operation of the region’s largest multi-sport event.

Improving Access to Competition Venues

Under the plan, passengers will be able to travel at no cost to the main competition venues, including the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center and Parque del Este, where numerous sporting events will be held throughout the Games.

Authorities expect the initiative to improve mobility for athletes, officials, volunteers, residents, and spectators while helping reduce traffic congestion around the city’s principal sports facilities.

The XXV Central American and Caribbean Games will bring together thousands of athletes from across the region, making efficient public transportation a key component of the event’s overall operations and visitor experience.
