Punta Cana Schedules 785 International Flights for Peak Summer Week

Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) will handle 785 international flights during the week of July 13–19, underscoring the Dominican Republic’s continued appeal as one of the Caribbean’s leading vacation destinations.

The weekly schedule reflects sustained demand from major international tourism markets, with a balanced mix of scheduled and charter services bringing visitors from North America, Europe, and South America. The figures further reinforce Punta Cana’s role as the country’s primary tourism gateway and one of the busiest international airports in the Caribbean.

San Juan, Panama City, and Miami Lead Flight Connections

The busiest international routes to Punta Cana during the week are led by San Juan, Puerto Rico, with 65 flights, followed by Panama City with 56 and Miami with 54.

Other major connecting cities include New York (JFK) with 43 flights, Toronto with 38, Atlanta with 29, Lima with 27, Montreal with 26, and both Charlotte and Bogotá with 24 flights each.

Additional high-frequency routes include Fort Lauderdale (22 flights), Philadelphia (21), Orlando (18), Madrid (14), Buenos Aires (14), Frankfurt (10), São Paulo (9), and London Gatwick (8).

Strong Demand Across the Americas

The United States remains Punta Cana’s largest international source market, with frequent service from cities including Miami, New York, Atlanta, Charlotte, Orlando, Boston, Philadelphia, Fort Lauderdale, Dallas, and Newark. Airlines such as JetBlue, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Spirit Airlines, and Southwest Airlines continue to support the destination’s strong summer schedule.

Canada is also maintaining robust connectivity, with Toronto and Montreal leading the market and helping sustain high airline seat capacity and hotel occupancy throughout the peak travel season.

South America Continues to Expand

South America remains one of the fastest-growing contributors to Punta Cana’s international traffic. Argentina continues to strengthen its position through sustained demand from Buenos Aires, while Colombia, Peru, and Brazil also maintain regular air service that supports the destination’s growing regional market.

The continued recovery of Argentine outbound travel has helped preserve significant air capacity during the Northern Hemisphere’s summer months, contributing to the overall growth in international operations.

Spain Leads European Market

Among European countries, Spain remains Punta Cana’s strongest source of direct flights, with Madrid serving as the airport’s busiest European route. Additional services from Frankfurt, London, Lisbon, and Paris further strengthen the Dominican Republic’s transatlantic connectivity.

The combination of strong demand from the United States, Canada, Europe, and South America points to another busy summer period for Punta Cana. The scheduled 785 international flights demonstrate continued airline confidence in the destination and reinforce its status as one of the Caribbean’s most important tourism hubs.
