DNCD Seizes 41 Suspected Marijuana Packages at Haina Oriental Port

SANTO DOMINGO — Officers from the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), working alongside the Public Prosecutor’s Office, seized more than 40 packages of suspected marijuana during an inspection at Haina Oriental Port in the municipality of Santo Domingo Oeste.

Inspectors found a cardboard box hidden inside the tank containing 41 packages of a substance believed to be marijuana. The packages were wrapped in black plastic bags and had a preliminary weight of approximately 43 pounds.
The shipment was dispatched from the state of New Jersey and was destined for the municipality of San Francisco de Macorís, in Duarte province, according to the official report.

The seizure forms part of the Dominican Republic’s ongoing efforts to strengthen inspections at ports and other entry points used by international drug trafficking networks.
