COE Issues Green Alert for Nine Provinces and the National District

The Emergency Operations Center (COE) has issued a green alert for nine provinces and the National District as weather conditions are expected to bring heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong wind gusts to several parts of the Dominican Republic.
The precautionary measure is intended to keep emergency response agencies and local communities on heightened awareness as adverse weather could trigger urban flooding, sudden rises in rivers, streams and creeks, as well as landslides in vulnerable areas.
Areas Under Green Alert
The provinces placed under alert are Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Monte Plata, San Juan, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, La Vega and Valverde, in addition to the National District.
Authorities Urge Residents to Remain Vigilant
The COE advised residents to monitor official weather bulletins, avoid crossing rivers, streams and ravines with high water levels, and take the necessary precautions while the unsettled weather persists.
Authorities also urged people living in flood-prone or otherwise vulnerable areas to follow instructions from emergency response agencies and stay informed about changes in weather conditions.
