A new integrated transit fare took effect on Saturday, July 11, 2026, allowing passengers in Santo Domingo to travel across the Santo Domingo Metro, the Santo Domingo Cable Car, and OMSA bus corridors for a single fare of RD$35 per trip.
The unified fare is designed to simplify transfers between the capital’s main public transportation systems. Passengers have up to 90 minutes from their first boarding to complete any transfers covered by the integrated ticket. Once that time limit expires, a new fare must be paid to continue using the service.
Multiple Payment Options Available
Users can access the integrated fare using the Metro transit card, the SD Go mobile application, or participating bank cards enabled for the system. Dedicated fare gates have also been installed at Metro stations for passengers using the integrated payment option, helping streamline access during transfers.
Regular Metro and Cable Car Fare Remains Unchanged
Passengers traveling exclusively on the Metro or the Cable Car without transferring to another mode of transport will continue paying the standard fare of RD$20. The new integrated ticket applies only to journeys that combine eligible transportation services.
Agencies Coordinated the Integration
The technological integration behind the unified fare system was coordinated by the Metropolitan Transport Company (EMT) and the Trust for the Development of the Mass Transit System (FITRAM). The initiative represents another step toward improving connectivity across Santo Domingo’s public transportation network and making multimodal travel more convenient for daily commuters.
