The victory continued Miami’s impressive turnaround after the club snapped a franchise-record 12-game losing streak. The Marlins have now won six of their last seven games, improving their position as they approach the Major League Baseball trade deadline.
Joe Mack Supplies the Offense
The game’s only runs came after Mack opened the fifth inning by driving a full-count cutter from Mets starter Robert Stock over the right-center field wall. The solo homer gave Miami a 1-0 advantage and continued a notable trend, as four of Mack’s 11 home runs this season have come while catching Alcantara.
Miami added an insurance run later in the game before its bullpen preserved the shutout. Pete Fairbanks recorded the save to secure the Marlins’ victory.
