Banreservas Launches New RD$5 Billion Financing Program for Women-Led SMEs
Banreservas has announced a new RD$5 billion lending program for women-owned small and medium-sized businesses, combining preferential financing with business training and digital tools through a partnership with Mastercard.
Banco de Reservas (Banreservas), in collaboration with Mastercard, launched the second edition of the Summit Mujer Pymes Banreservas, an initiative designed to strengthen women-led entrepreneurship by providing access to affordable financing, business education, and networking opportunities.
During the event, Ysidro García, Banreservas’ Senior Executive Vice President of Business, representing Executive President Leonardo Aguilera, announced the availability of RD$5 billion in new loans for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) led by women. The financing will be offered at a preferential annual interest rate of 12.95%.
Expanded Support for Women-Owned Businesses
García said the new funding raises Banreservas’ total financing portfolio for women-led SMEs to RD$32 billion. He highlighted the important role these businesses play in job creation and the Dominican Republic’s economic growth.
The bank noted that the initiative reflects its commitment to expanding financial inclusion and supporting entrepreneurship, in line with the country’s broader economic development goals.
Digital Training Through Mastercard Partnership
As part of the collaboration with Mastercard, participants will receive free access to an online learning platform featuring courses on electronic payments, personal finance, cybersecurity, and entrepreneurship. The training is intended to help business owners strengthen their management skills and improve the competitiveness of their companies.
María Barreiros, Mastercard’s Senior Vice President for Small and Medium Enterprises in Latin America and the Caribbean, praised Banreservas’ continued support for women entrepreneurs and emphasized the positive impact that access to financing and education can have on business growth.
Leadership and Networking Opportunities
The Summit also featured conferences and panel discussions focused on leadership, digital transformation, and productivity. Attendees participated in networking sessions designed to encourage collaboration and the exchange of experiences among entrepreneurs.
The event brought together women business owners, industry specialists, and executives from Banreservas and its affiliated companies, reinforcing the institutions’ joint commitment to supporting female entrepreneurship and the continued development of Dominican SMEs.
