Acroarte Begins Evaluation Process for Premios Soberano 2027

Acroarte, the Dominican Association of Art Critics, is beginning the evaluation phase for the Premios Soberano 2027, marking the official start of the selection process for the country’s most prestigious awards honoring excellence in the arts and communications.

Jurors representing the awards’ four main divisions—Film, Classical, Communications, and Popular—will meet this weekend to review productions, performances, programs, and public figures from the first half of the year. Their discussions will help determine which candidates advance toward nominations for the 42nd edition of the awards.

Official Start of the Awards Season

Marivell Contreras, president of Acroarte, said the evaluation sessions represent the formal launch of preparations for the 2027 ceremony.

“Starting this weekend, we begin the evaluation process with the juries from each category to discuss and analyze which artists, communicators, actors, and programs meet the criteria to compete for a nomination. It is a stage we embrace with enthusiasm because it marks the beginning of a new edition of the awards,” Contreras said.

The review process is conducted in stages throughout the year, allowing jurors to assess eligible work before final nominations are announced ahead of the ceremony.

Ceremony Set for March 2027

The Premios Soberano 2027 ceremony is scheduled for March 17, 2027. The event will once again be co-sponsored by Cervecería Nacional Dominicana and produced by César Suárez Jr., who will oversee the production for the fourth consecutive year.

Audiences in the Dominican Republic will be able to watch the awards live on Color Visión (Channel 9). International viewers in the United States will once again have access through Univision and the streaming platform ViX, continuing the broadcasters’ role as the event’s official media partners.

Dominican Arts’ Leading Recognition

Created in 1985, the Premios Soberano have become the Dominican Republic’s premier recognition for achievements in music, television, film, theater, classical arts, and communications. The annual awards are widely regarded as the country’s highest honor for artists and media professionals.

Acroarte’s Executive Committee is composed of Marivell Contreras, José D’ Laura, Máximo Jiménez, Marino Guzmán, Enrique Medina, Glenys Abréu, Viancamely Alcántara, Ángela Genao, and Ramón Paulino, who oversee the organization of the awards and its selection process.
