Santo Domingo 2026 Celebrates Regional Culture With Nightly Performances
The Art and Culture Department of the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games is presenting a nightly cultural program in the International Zone of Ciudad Juan Bosch, highlighting the artistic traditions of participating nations throughout the regional sporting event.
The Art and Culture Department of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 is hosting a series of evening cultural performances designed to showcase the artistic heritage of countries and territories participating in the regional multi-sport event.
Held in the International Zone at Ciudad Juan Bosch, the program began on Friday and will continue through August 7, offering visitors, athletes and delegation members an opportunity to experience music and cultural expressions from across Central America and the Caribbean.
Regional Traditions on Display
Pedro Julio Quezada, president of the Dominican Federation of Art and Culture (Fedoarcu), said the initiative has received strong support from athletes, officials and residents of Ciudad Juan Bosch. He explained that the performances are intended to help participants from different nations feel welcomed while celebrating the region’s cultural diversity.
“We are recreating the artistic culture of the different countries so that every nation feels at home,” Quezada said.
Music From Across the Caribbean and Central America
Each evening’s schedule features a wide range of musical genres representing the participating nations, including bachata, son, reggae, mariachi, joropo and other traditional musical styles.
The Dominican Republic’s own cultural heritage also plays a prominent role in the program, with performances of merengue, traditional folk music, salve and other Afro-Dominican musical expressions presented daily from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Creating a Welcoming Atmosphere for Athletes
According to Quezada, athletes, coaches and team officials staying at the Central American and Caribbean Games Village regularly attend the performances, which complement the sporting competition by encouraging cultural exchange among delegations.
The cultural program is organized by the Art and Culture Department of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 as part of the broader effort to enrich the experience of competitors and visitors while highlighting the Dominican Republic’s cultural identity alongside the traditions of neighboring countries.
