The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) has completed the public testing phase of its fully digital Minor Travel Permit service, making the platform a permanent online option for families whose children require authorization to travel abroad. As of Friday, the service operates under a standard fee of RD$6,300.

According to the DGM, the total fee combines several administrative requirements into a single online payment. The amount includes RD$2,000 for the travel permit issued by the migration authority, RD$3,000 for the electronic notarial authorization processed by the Dominican College of Notaries, RD$700 for legalization by the Attorney General’s Office, and RD$600 for the family relationship certification issued by the Central Electoral Board (JCE).

More Than 5,600 Digital Permits Issued During Pilot Program

The digital platform was tested through a public beta launched on May 28. During that period, the DGM processed 5,603 fully digital travel permits for minors, allowing the institution to validate the system’s performance and refine the user experience before its permanent rollout.

The online process enables parents to complete the entire application remotely, including submitting documentation, paying the required fees, and receiving the approved permit electronically. Applicants no longer need to visit a Migration office in person, reducing travel expenses and waiting times for families across the country and abroad.

Part of the Government’s Digital Transformation Strategy

The DGM said the platform was developed with technical support from the Burocracia Cero (Zero Bureaucracy) program, guidance from Public Digital, and collaboration with the National Competitiveness Council (CNC). The initiative forms part of the Dominican government’s broader effort to modernize public services and simplify administrative procedures through digital technologies.

The agency said the service remains available through its official online channels as part of its ongoing digital transformation strategy, aimed at improving citizen services while making one of the country’s most frequently requested travel procedures faster and more accessible.
