Aguilas Cibaeñas And Licey Battle To 4-4 Preseason Tie
The Aguilas Cibaeñas and Tigres del Licey played to a 4-4 draw Monday in Bonao, with Alberto Rodríguez providing a home run for the Aguilas and Orelvis Martínez driving in all four of Licey’s runs.
The Aguilas Cibaeñas and Tigres del Licey finished their first preseason meeting of 2026 with a 4-4 tie Monday at Estadio Antonio del Villar in Bonao as both Dominican baseball clubs continue preparing for the upcoming Liga Dominicana de Béisbol (LIDOM) season.
The Aguilas built an early advantage before Licey took control in the later innings, but the Santiago-based club rallied in the ninth to erase a two-run deficit and leave the game even.
Rodríguez Provides Power For Aguilas
Alberto Rodríguez supplied the game’s first run with a solo home run in the opening inning. He finished 1-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored, while the Aguilas added extra-base hits from Seuly Matías, Anderson de los Santos and Christopher Suero.
Alfredo Reyes contributed a single and a stolen base, while Ronny Rodríguez drove in a run. Fernando Peguero also scored for the Aguilas as the team’s offense produced four runs against the Licey pitching staff.
Joan Adón Dominates In His Start
Aguilas starter Joan Adón turned in one of the strongest individual performances of the afternoon. The right-hander worked three scoreless innings, allowing only one hit while striking out five and issuing no walks.
Adón was followed by Luis Reyes, Génesis Cabrera, Alan Perdomo, Daison Acosta, Kenyi Pérez, Félix Ramírez, Leandro López and Rodolfo Martínez as the Aguilas continued evaluating their pitching staff during the preseason.
Orelvis Martínez Drives In All Four Licey Runs
For Licey, Orelvis Martínez accounted for all four runs. He delivered an RBI single in the fifth inning before producing a two-run double in the seventh that put the Tigres ahead 4-2.
Francisco Mejía added a double for Licey, which collected four hits overall. Adonis Medina started for the Tigres and worked three and one-third innings, striking out three and allowing one earned run on Rodríguez’s first-inning homer.
Aguilas Rally In Ninth Inning
The Aguilas completed their comeback in the ninth. Ronny Rodríguez’s sacrifice fly brought one run home, while a throwing error by third baseman Yerald Nin allowed the tying run to score and prevented Licey from holding its advantage.
The result gives both teams another opportunity to evaluate players and pitching combinations before the 2026-27 LIDOM regular season. The Dominican professional baseball league is scheduled to begin its official campaign on October 16.
The Aguilas’ next preseason game is scheduled for Tuesday against the Granjeros de Moca at Estadio Cibao in Santiago, with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
