Dominican Republic Opens Applications for 2026 National Environmental Award
The Dominican Republic's Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources is accepting applications through August 31 for the 2026 National Environmental Award, recognizing projects and initiatives that promote sustainability and environmental conservation across the country.
The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MMARN) is encouraging individuals, businesses, academic institutions, non-profit organizations, researchers and public entities to apply for the 2026 National Environmental Award before the August 31 deadline.
The annual award recognizes innovative projects and initiatives that contribute to environmental protection, sustainable development and the responsible management of natural resources in the Dominican Republic. The recognition is granted under Article 66 of Law No. 64-00 and Resolution No. 011/2026.
Recognizing Environmental Leadership
The National Environmental Award honors initiatives that generate measurable environmental benefits through biodiversity conservation, environmental education, sustainable production, responsible resource management and other efforts aimed at improving quality of life for current and future generations.
Environment Minister Paíno Henríquez called on all sectors of society to take advantage of the opportunity to showcase projects that are helping protect the country’s natural heritage.
“Every action that protects our natural resources deserves recognition because it inspires others to act. We invite individuals, organizations, companies and institutions to share their initiatives and become part of this national recognition that promotes a culture of sustainability and commitment to the future of the Dominican Republic,” Henríquez said.
Applications Open Until August 31
Eligible applicants include individuals, private companies, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, local governments and public agencies that meet the requirements established in the official competition guidelines.
Participants can review the eligibility criteria, explore the different award categories and complete their application through the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources’ official website.
The award also highlights projects that contribute to preserving the natural environments of the Dominican Republic, reinforcing the importance of protecting ecosystems while promoting sustainable economic and social development.

The Ministry is encouraging interested applicants not to wait until the final days of the application period and to submit their proposals before August 31, ensuring their initiatives are considered among the country’s leading environmental achievements.
