INFOTEP Expands Technical Training Opportunities for Tourism Jobs in Higüey

The National Institute for Technical and Vocational Training (INFOTEP) has opened new enrollment opportunities for technical training programs focused on hospitality and tourism, aiming to prepare more qualified professionals for one of the Dominican Republic’s most important economic sectors.

Classes will begin on August 10 at INFOTEP’s School of Hospitality, Gastronomy and Pastry Arts in Higüey. The programs are designed for young people and adults interested in acquiring technical skills that offer strong employment prospects within the expanding hotel and tourism industry in the country’s eastern region.

Training Programs and Available Spaces

The new intake includes 23 places for the Technical Program in Gastronomy and 21 places for the Technical Program in Hotel Accommodation and Front Desk Operations, both offered during the morning schedule.

Under the Training at the Center (FCC) model, INFOTEP is also offering 20 places for an evening Gastronomy program, 19 places for an evening Bakery and Pastry program, and 18 places for an afternoon Gastronomy program.

Supporting the Tourism Workforce

Interested applicants can visit the School of Hospitality, Gastronomy and Pastry Arts, located at the intersection of Altagracia Avenue and Juan XXIII Avenue in Higüey, where admissions staff will provide information about enrollment requirements. Elisa Acosta, who oversees the training center, said the new enrollment period offers an important opportunity for people seeking long-term careers in hospitality and tourism, one of the leading sources of employment in the eastern Dominican Republic.

She noted that earning a technical qualification from INFOTEP frequently leads to quality employment opportunities and that many participants receive job offers before completing their training because of the institution’s close collaboration with hotels and other tourism businesses.

Dual and Center-Based Learning

INFOTEP explained that the programs are delivered through two training models. The Dual Training system combines classroom instruction with practical experience at companies operating in the productive sector, while the Training at the Center (FCC) model provides hands-on instruction entirely within INFOTEP’s specialized facilities.

The School of Hospitality, Gastronomy and Pastry Arts was established to help meet the tourism industry’s growing demand for skilled workers and continues to serve as one of INFOTEP’s flagship training centers for hospitality professionals in the Dominican Republic’s leading tourism destination.
