Dominican companies generated an estimated US$3.68 million in business leads during three international trade fairs held in July, as the country’s Export and Investment Center, ProDominicana, sought to expand the reach of Dominican products among buyers, distributors, importers and investors.

The trade missions covered the Trade & Investment Convention 2026 in Trinidad and Tobago, Cosmoprof Las Vegas 2026 in the United States and the NSA Trade Show 2026 in Secaucus, New Jersey. The events gave participating companies access to different segments of the international market, ranging from beauty and cosmetics to food and consumer products.

Dominican Companies Target Caribbean And U.S. Buyers

The first stop was the Trade & Investment Convention at the Centre of Excellence in Trinidad and Tobago. The event brought together manufacturers, exporters, buyers and investors from more than 35 countries, creating opportunities for Dominican companies to establish commercial relationships and explore potential trade and investment partnerships.

Participation then shifted to the beauty industry at Cosmoprof Las Vegas, held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Dominican exhibitors presented hair-care, personal-care and cosmetic products to an international audience in one of the industry’s major U.S. trade platforms.

The participating companies included Laboratorio Capilo Español, Halka Industrial, Avacare, Inversiones y Negocios, S.A., Laboratorios Dr. Collado, Laboratorios Lemuel, Importadora Fernández García Tejada and Bahaily Natural Products. Their portfolios included hair-care products, body care, specialized cosmetics and products based on natural ingredients.

Food And Consumer Products Featured In New Jersey

The third mission focused on the U.S. supermarket sector at the NSA Trade Show 2026, held at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey. The event provides a commercial platform aimed particularly at independent supermarkets and buyers serving the U.S. East Coast.

Dominican participants included Agrolácteos Imanfa, Vencor Group, Sancler, Sylvan Foods, Café Santo Domingo, Todus, Jomisardys and Delimix. The companies showcased products ranging from beans and cookies to beauty products, value-added frozen foods and coffee.

The variety of products presented across the three events reflects the breadth of the Dominican export base. Rather than concentrating on a single industry, the trade missions targeted different buyer networks and market segments where Dominican manufacturers and producers can develop distribution relationships.

Trade Fairs Form Part Of Export Expansion Strategy

ProDominicana uses international trade fairs, business missions and buyer-seller meetings as part of its broader export-promotion strategy. The agency provides exporters with market information, access to international buyers and opportunities to showcase Dominican products abroad.

According to ProDominicana’s current data, the Dominican Republic recorded US$15.93 billion in merchandise exports in 2025, with more than 160 export destinations and over 3,000 products reaching international markets. The agency’s international promotion efforts are intended to help companies expand those commercial networks and identify additional opportunities abroad.

For Dominican businesses, the value of trade fairs extends beyond immediate sales. Contacts established with importers and distributors can lead to longer-term commercial agreements, while exposure to international buyers can provide companies with information about product standards, packaging, pricing and consumer preferences in target markets.

The July missions therefore form part of a wider effort to strengthen the internationalization of Dominican companies. The estimated US$3.68 million in business leads provides an indication of the commercial interest generated during the three events, while the next challenge will be converting those contacts into completed transactions and sustained export relationships.
