The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM) announced that the Dominican Republic will maintain unchanged prices for its main transportation fuels from July 18 through July 24, 2026, despite a sharp increase in international oil prices over the past week.
The measure is supported by a RD$875.3 million government subsidy aimed at preventing higher fuel costs from affecting households and businesses. According to the ministry, total fuel subsidies provided so far in 2026 have reached RD$22.198 billion as authorities continue efforts to cushion the impact of global energy market volatility.
Subsidies Focus on Transportation Fuels
The largest subsidies continue to target regular fuels used by public transportation and freight services, helping to limit increases in transportation costs that could eventually raise the prices of consumer goods across the country.
For the current pricing period, the government is subsidizing consumers by RD$42.65 per gallon of regular gasoline, RD$61.28 per gallon of regular diesel, and RD$13.63 per gallon of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
International Oil Prices Continue to Climb
MICM said international crude oil prices increased by nearly 12% during the past week as geopolitical tensions intensified following setbacks in peace negotiations. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude, the benchmark used for the Dominican market, is on track for a second consecutive week of gains.
While most retail fuel prices remain unchanged, several industrial and aviation-related fuels will increase in line with international market conditions.

The weekly fuel pricing was calculated using an average exchange rate of RD$58.96 per U.S. dollar, based on daily figures published by the Dominican Republic’s Central Bank.
