President Luis Abinader will launch La Agenda Semanal on Monday, August 24, at 5:00 p.m., creating a new weekly space focused on the way his administration monitors national priorities and follows up on government commitments.

The initiative will take the form of an executive working meeting led by Abinader and attended by ministers, directors and other officials responsible for the issue selected for each session. The meetings will be broadcast live, allowing citizens to observe the government’s working process directly.

A Weekly Look At Government Priorities

Each edition of La Agenda Semanal will focus on a different subject. Rather than limiting the program to announcements, the format is intended to show how the government reviews progress, identifies obstacles, evaluates results and determines the actions needed to move its priorities forward.

During the meetings, Abinader will hear reports from his teams, ask questions, review indicators and assess previously established commitments. Officials responsible for each area will participate in the discussions as the government examines what has been achieved and what remains to be done.

The format is designed around a series of practical questions: where does the government stand on a particular priority, what has been accomplished, what difficulties remain, what decisions are required and what steps should follow.

Education Will Be The First Focus

The first edition of La Agenda Semanal will focus on education and the start of the school year, placing one of the country’s most important public services at the center of the inaugural meeting.

The session will provide an opportunity to review preparations for the opening of classes and examine the work being carried out by the officials responsible for the education sector. The meeting will be broadcast live at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Education affects millions of students and families across the Dominican Republic, making the start of the school year a significant point on the government’s annual agenda. The new format will use the issue to demonstrate how the administration follows up on a national priority through direct meetings with the officials responsible for its execution.

Showing The Work Behind Government Decisions

La Agenda Semanal is intended to provide greater visibility into the work that takes place behind government policies and decisions. The Presidency describes the initiative as a window into a management process centered on supervision, evaluation, coordination and problem-solving.

The weekly meetings will therefore focus not only on what the government has announced, but also on how officials work to implement those decisions. Progress, pending tasks and obstacles can be reviewed directly as the president coordinates with the teams responsible for each area.

For citizens, the live format offers a way to observe that process rather than receiving information only after a decision or government initiative has been completed.

A New Weekly Government Working Format

With a different subject scheduled for each edition, La Agenda Semanal will create a recurring forum for reviewing the government’s main priorities. The approach places particular emphasis on measurable progress, unresolved problems and the decisions needed to keep public initiatives moving.

The first broadcast will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, with education and the start of the school year as its opening focus. Subsequent editions will address other government priorities through the same working format, giving citizens a regular view of how the administration supervises and coordinates its agenda.
