CONSTRUEXPO 2026 Opens in Punta Cana, Highlighting Construction Growth

CONSTRUEXPO 2026 officially opened its 18th edition at BlueMall Punta Cana, reinforcing Punta Cana’s position as one of the Caribbean’s leading destinations for real estate investment, urban development and infrastructure expansion.

The three-day event brings together business leaders, developers, manufacturers, engineers and construction professionals to explore emerging technologies, strengthen commercial partnerships and discuss the industry’s future.

Government Announces Construction Permit Reforms

The opening ceremony was led by Víctor Bisonó, Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings, who unveiled new measures aimed at modernizing and accelerating the country’s construction permitting process.

Among the initiatives announced were a new phase of the One-Stop Construction Window, designed to provide a more integrated and transparent permitting platform, and the implementation of the NORM system, which seeks to standardize technical evaluation criteria and improve the review of construction applications.

Bisonó also highlighted the increase in construction licenses issued during the first four months of 2026, describing the figures as evidence of the sector’s continued expansion in the Dominican Republic.

International Industry Showcase

Organized by José Veras & Asociados, CONSTRUEXPO 2026 features more than 48 exhibiting companies and international participation from Italy, Spain, Panama, Ecuador, Colombia and the United States.

This year’s exhibition takes place as Punta Cana continues to experience sustained growth in hotel, residential, commercial and mixed-use developments, reinforcing the eastern region’s role as one of the country’s fastest-growing investment hubs.

Innovation and Sustainable Development

Beyond its commercial exhibition, the event includes a technical program focused on sustainability, industrialized construction methods, efficiency, innovation and urban resilience—topics that are increasingly shaping the future of the construction industry across the Caribbean and Latin America.

Organizers also announced the creation of the Alliance for the Development of the Construction Sector, an initiative launched with the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) and other business organizations to strengthen public-private collaboration and support long-term industry growth.

During the opening session, Annerys Meléndez emphasized the importance of sustainable planning as tourism and real estate development continue to expand across the Dominican Republic. Mario Betances highlighted the growing role of technology and industrialized construction methods in transforming the sector.
