The Economic and Social Development Council of Santo Domingo (CODESSD) has been honored as an Organization Promoting Sustainability during the 2026 Latin America Wedding Awards (LAWA Awards), in recognition of its efforts to advance sustainable development through Expo Sostenible 2026. The award highlights the organization’s work in fostering environmental responsibility, innovation, and social engagement in the Dominican Republic.

The distinction acknowledges CODESSD’s role in promoting initiatives that encourage sustainable development, environmental protection, and collaboration between the public sector, private companies, and civil society. According to the organization, Expo Sostenible has become the country’s leading platform dedicated to showcasing sustainable solutions and responsible business practices.

Recognition for Expo Sostenible’s Growing Impact

The award was accepted by Samuel Sena, president of CODESSD, together with Francisco Valdez, a member of the organization and one of the driving forces behind Expo Sostenible. Both accepted the recognition on behalf of the institution’s staff, strategic partners, sponsors, and collaborators who contributed to the event’s success.

“This recognition encourages us to continue promoting initiatives that contribute to building a more sustainable, competitive Dominican Republic committed to future generations,” Sena said. He added that Expo Sostenible has evolved into a platform for promoting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) best practices across multiple sectors of the economy.

Valdez noted that the event has established itself as a meeting point for businesses, institutions, entrepreneurs, and citizens interested in generating a positive social impact through innovation and responsible development.

Expo Sostenible Continues to Expand

According to CODESSD, the 2026 edition of Expo Sostenible attracted thousands of visitors along with dozens of exhibitors and national and international experts. The event has become one of the Dominican Republic’s most important forums for sharing sustainability initiatives, promoting dialogue, and encouraging collaboration between different sectors.

Through conferences, exhibitions, and networking activities, Expo Sostenible seeks to encourage the adoption of practices aligned with sustainable economic growth, environmental stewardship, and corporate social responsibility.
