Edesur Dominicana Reports Five Arrests In Fraud Investigation

Edesur Dominicana reported that five members of brigades contracted by the electricity distributor have been detained following allegations that they requested money from customers in exchange for performing work or providing services.

The arrests followed complaints received by Edesur’s Operational Department Against Fraud. The company said the operations took place at Camino Los Asises in Sainaguá, San Cristóbal, and on Héroes de Luperón and Catalina Gil streets in La Feria and San Gerónimo, neighborhoods of the National District.

Edesur Urges Customers To Report Improper Charges

Edesur said it will fully cooperate with the competent authorities as they investigate the allegations and determine the corresponding responsibilities. The company did not provide further details about the individuals detained or the specific cases that led to the arrests.

The distributor reiterated its commitment to transparency, ethical conduct and protecting customer rights. It also urged users to report any attempt by brigade members or technicians to request improper payments or engage in other irregular conduct while providing electricity-related services.
