SeNaSa, the Dominican Republic’s national health insurance provider, has introduced SeNaSa Ultra, a new complementary plan designed to expand the range of medical services available to affiliates beyond the benefits included in the country’s standard Health Services Plan, known as the PDSS.

The new product adds more than 800 services to the existing coverage and includes annual protection of up to RD$4 million for high-cost medical services. It also provides coverage for robotic surgery in specific cases, according to information released by the institution.

Expanded Coverage for Medical Services

SeNaSa Ultra includes 100% coverage for outpatient and hospitalization services without a stated limit under the plan. The package also provides additional coverage for therapies associated with neurodevelopment, extending benefits in an area that can involve long-term treatment and recurring medical expenses.

The plan is intended to complement the services covered through the PDSS, giving affiliates access to a broader range of medical benefits within SeNaSa’s network. For patients facing high-cost procedures, the additional annual coverage could provide greater financial protection against substantial healthcare expenses.

Premium Structure Without an Age Surcharge

Another feature highlighted by SeNaSa is a flat premium without an age surcharge. Under this structure, the cost of accessing the plan’s benefits does not increase based on the affiliate’s age.

SeNaSa also announced improvements to its existing Especial, Avanzado, Máximo and Premium complementary plans. The changes are linked to the updated Health Services Plan and are intended to expand the benefits available through those products.

SeNaSa Expands Its Provider Network

The institution said its current network includes approximately 12,000 healthcare providers distributed throughout the Dominican Republic. The network is a key component of the plans because coverage ultimately depends on access to participating healthcare professionals and facilities.

For residents and other people enrolled in the Dominican health insurance system, the expansion of complementary coverage reflects the growing role of private and additional health benefits alongside the services established under the national health coverage framework.

SeNaSa presented the launch as part of its 24th anniversary, describing the new product as part of a broader effort to increase financial protection, access to advanced medical technology and comprehensive healthcare services for its affiliates.
