Stefano Mazzoli delivered a clutch finish to win the 2026 Corales Puntacana Championship, closing with a final-round performance of eight birdies and two bogeys to finish at 20-under par (268). The victory at Corales Golf Course in Punta Cana marks the Italian’s first PGA Tour title and the most significant achievement of his professional career.
Mazzoli overtook England’s Todd Clements, who had led the tournament through the opening three rounds, by sinking a decisive birdie on the 18th hole. The dramatic finish earned Mazzoli the title of the tournament’s newest “King of Corales.”
A Career-Defining Victory
Before his breakthrough in Punta Cana, Mazzoli competed primarily on the Asian Tour and the DP World Tour. His career highlights included winning the 2015 European Amateur Championship, finishing runner-up at the 2024 Portuguese Open on the Challenge Tour, and being named the Asian Tour Rookie of the Year in 2024.
With the victory, Mazzoli secures PGA Tour membership through the 2028 season, earns 300 FedExCup points, 585 Race to Dubai points, and collects the tournament’s winner’s prize of US$720,000.
Final Leaderboard
Gordon Sargent finished tied for second at 19-under alongside Clements, whose outstanding play during the first three rounds established the tournament’s lowest 54-hole score on record. Americans Will Gordon and Ben James shared fourth place at 18-under.
Among previous Corales champions who made the cut, Joel Dahmen, the 2021 winner, finished tied for 24th at 12-under. Defending champion Garrick Higgo placed 48th at 1-under, while 2022 champion Chad Ramey ended the tournament in 62nd place at 7-under.
Only two Latin American players advanced to the weekend. Colombia’s Camilo Villegas finished tied for 48th at 8-under, while Argentina’s Alejandro Tosti placed 69th at 1-under.
Championship Ceremony and 2027 Dates Announced
The championship trophy was presented on the 18th green following tournament tradition. Mazzoli also received the event’s signature white chacabana shirt and the official Corales hat.
The awards ceremony was led by Paola Rainieri, Chief Marketing Officer of Grupo Puntacana, and Francesca Rainieri, the company’s Chief Financial Officer, alongside members of the tournament’s organizing team.
Organizers also confirmed that the next edition of the Corales Puntacana Championship will be held from July 12 to 18, 2027, continuing the PGA Tour event’s presence in the Dominican Republic.
