Yesi Tejeda Earns Heptathlon Silver at Santo Domingo 2026
Dominican track and field athlete Yesi Tejeda added a second medal to her campaign at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, securing silver in the heptathlon after an impressive performance across seven disciplines.
Yesi Tejeda continued her standout performance at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo by winning the silver medal in the women’s heptathlon. The 22-year-old Dominican athlete accumulated 5,859 points, finishing behind Puerto Rico’s Alysbeth Félix, who claimed the gold medal with 6,136 points.
The bronze medal also went to Puerto Rico, with Fabiola Declet totaling 5,694 points. Tejeda’s runner-up finish marked her second appearance on the podium at the regional competition after previously earning bronze in the javelin throw.
Strong Performances Across Seven Events
Tejeda opened the competition by winning the 100-meter hurdles in 13.17 seconds. She later finished fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.61 meters before taking first place in the shot put with a throw of 12.71 meters.
Her consistent performances continued with a third-place finish in the 200 meters in 24.67 seconds and second place in the long jump after reaching 6.03 meters. Tejeda also led the javelin competition with a throw of 51.90 meters, one of her strongest events, before closing the heptathlon with a sixth-place finish in the 800 meters in 2:34.99.
Second Medal at Home Games
The silver medal adds to an already successful campaign for the Dominican athlete, who has now secured two medals while competing on home soil. Her results highlight the depth of the Dominican Republic’s athletics team during the regional multi-sport event and reinforce her position among the country’s leading combined-events competitors.
