UNICARIBE Inclusive Education Model Reaches QS Awards 2026

Universidad del Caribe (UNICARIBE) has advanced in the 2026 QS Reimagine Education Awards with HE 4 ALL, an inclusive higher education model designed to reduce barriers to university access, retention and student success.

The Dominican university’s proposal was selected in the Access, Diversity & Inclusion category and placed among the top 25% of the 2,226 international submissions received for this year’s awards after passing the first stage of evaluation.

A Flexible Model Designed Around Students

HE 4 ALL, which stands for Higher Education Designed for Everyone, forms part of UNICARIBE’s broader inclusive education approach developed through its educational model, MEDUC. The initiative focuses on students who may face practical barriers to traditional university schedules and learning environments.

The model is particularly aimed at adult learners, working students, people with disabilities, students with family responsibilities and people facing economic or geographic barriers. Its structure combines flexible scheduling, technology, accessibility measures and academic support.

Courses are organized into monthly modules, while students can select the day, time and format of their classes. UNICARIBE offers instruction from Monday through Sunday and combines face-to-face and virtual learning with accessible digital environments.

Accessibility and Academic Support

The initiative also includes 100% scholarships for students with disabilities, accessible digital content through Blackboard Ally, personalized tutoring and mechanisms designed to support students throughout their academic careers.

These elements are intended to address barriers that can affect both entry into higher education and a student’s ability to remain enrolled and complete a degree. The approach places flexibility and accessibility alongside academic accompaniment rather than treating them as separate services.

Final Stage Will Take Place in London

The QS Reimagine Education Awards recognize initiatives involving educational innovation, technology, inclusion and new approaches to teaching and learning. The 2026 edition attracted 2,226 submissions from around the world.

The final stage of the awards and the associated conference will take place in London from December 6 to 8, 2026, bringing together universities and education specialists from different countries.

For UNICARIBE, the selection places its long-running work on flexible and accessible higher education in an international competition focused on innovation and inclusion. The university says its efforts in this area have been developed over more than three decades as it seeks to expand access to higher education for students with different educational, personal and socioeconomic circumstances.
