The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) announced that the Ozama Floating Bridge, which connects parts of Santo Domingo across the Ozama River, will be temporarily closed from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026.
The temporary suspension of vehicle traffic is necessary to allow the safe passage of three vessels conducting scheduled navigation operations along the river.
Three Vessels Scheduled to Transit the River
According to the MOPC, the tanker M/T Soli Deo Gloria will depart from the Joseph Industrial Development Corp. shipyard during the closure period.
At the same time, the barge IMI 105 and the vessel M/V Sheskna will travel upriver toward the facilities of Malaca. These movements require the complete opening of the floating bridge to provide sufficient clearance for safe navigation.
Drivers Advised to Plan Ahead
Motorists who normally use the Ozama Floating Bridge are encouraged to plan their trips accordingly and consider alternative routes during the two-hour closure to avoid delays.
The floating bridge is periodically opened to accommodate maritime traffic on the Ozama River, balancing the needs of road transportation with commercial and industrial navigation in the Santo Domingo metropolitan area.
