Aerodom Expands Digital Operations With New Airport App

Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (Aerodom) has expanded its digital operations with the launch of the Airport Community App, a platform designed to give airport personnel and organizations a shared channel for real-time flight and operational information.

Developed by AirportLabs, the application is intended exclusively for the airport community rather than passengers. Airlines, airport operations teams, ground handlers, government agencies and other service providers can use the platform to access updated information and coordinate their responses to operational changes.

The app was officially launched on September 9 at Las Américas International Airport (AILA), one of the Dominican Republic’s main international gateways. Representatives from the Airport Department, General Directorate of Migration, Specialized Corps for Airport and Civil Aviation Security (CESAC), Civil Aviation Board, airlines and airport service companies took part in the rollout.

A Shared Channel for Real-Time Airport Information

The application brings flight information, operational alerts, communications and performance indicators together in a single digital channel. Authorized users can monitor arrivals and departures, gates, aircraft positions and flight status, while automatic notifications can be configured for flights they are following.

Aerodom said the system is intended to reduce dependence on fragmented or manual communication, particularly when last-minute changes require several organizations to act at the same time. By distributing updated information simultaneously, airport stakeholders can coordinate their responses more quickly.

The system is therefore focused on the operational side of aviation rather than passenger-facing services. Travelers will not use the application directly, but more efficient communication among airport organizations can support the handling of disruptions and other changes that affect airport operations.

Part of a Longer Digitalization Strategy

The new application builds on Aerodom’s broader digital transformation program, which began in 2016 with the implementation of a digital operations platform. That system included an Airport Operational Database (AODB) and resource-management capabilities designed to strengthen the exchange of real-time information across the six airports operated by the concessionaire.

The Airport Community App extends that digital infrastructure into the day-to-day communication between the different organizations working within those airports. Rather than replacing the underlying operational systems, the mobile platform adds another channel through which relevant information can reach personnel who need to act on it.

Aerodom CEO Cyril Girot described the objective as making sure operational information reaches the appropriate people at the appropriate time. The approach reflects a broader shift in airport management toward integrating data and communication so that multiple stakeholders can respond to the same operational picture.

More Features Planned

The application currently provides real-time operational and flight information, but Aerodom expects its capabilities to expand. Future updates are expected to include integrated messaging, crisis-management tools and other functions shaped by the needs and feedback of airport users.
