Breeze Airways to Launch Tampa–Santo Domingo Flights in 2027
Breeze Airways plans to launch nonstop flights between Tampa, Florida, and Santo Domingo on June 18, 2027, expanding air connections between the United States and the Dominican Republic. The service is scheduled to operate twice weekly aboard Airbus A220-300 aircraft, offering travelers another option for reaching the Dominican capital.
Breeze Airways will introduce nonstop flights between Tampa International Airport (TPA) in Florida and Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) in Santo Domingo on June 18, 2027, according to an announcement by Tampa International Airport. The route will operate on Mondays and Fridays using Airbus A220-300 aircraft.
The new service will expand travel options between Florida’s Tampa Bay region and the Dominican Republic’s capital, serving both leisure travelers and people visiting family or conducting business. The airport described the route as the first year-round airline service connecting Tampa with Santo Domingo, although its destination listing currently labels the service as seasonal.
Flight schedule and promotional fares
According to the published schedule, flights will depart Tampa at 10:30 a.m. and arrive in Santo Domingo at 1:25 p.m. The return service will leave the Dominican capital at 2:25 p.m. and land in Tampa at 5:30 p.m. All times are local.
Breeze has advertised introductory one-way fares starting at $149 under its No Flex fare option, subject to availability and applicable terms. The airline’s promotional offer covers eligible travel through September 7, 2027, according to the announcement. Travelers should check the official Breeze Airways website for current prices, baggage charges, restrictions and booking conditions.
The Airbus A220-300 will operate the route, providing a nonstop alternative to itineraries that require a connection through another airport. The frequency of two flights per week, however, means travelers will need to plan around the published operating days.
Frontier is also preparing Tampa–Santo Domingo service
Breeze will not be the first airline to announce a nonstop connection between Tampa and Santo Domingo for the period covered by the new schedules. Frontier Airlines has planned to begin its own service on December 17, 2026, according to published booking schedules cited in aviation industry reporting.
The distinction highlighted by Tampa International Airport is the prospect of year-round service with Breeze. However, the airport’s individual Santo Domingo destination page currently describes the route as seasonal, so travelers should verify the operating calendar before making plans for dates outside the published schedule.
The additional flights could provide more choice for travelers in the Tampa Bay area, including Dominican nationals and families with connections to the island. For visitors arriving in Santo Domingo, Las Américas International Airport serves as the principal international gateway to the capital, with ground transportation connecting passengers to the city and surrounding destinations.
Breeze expands its international network from Tampa
The Santo Domingo route forms part of Breeze Airways’ wider expansion into international markets from Tampa. The airline began its international service from the Florida airport with flights to Nassau, The Bahamas, on June 11, 2026, and launched service to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic on July 2. Flights to San José, Costa Rica, began in October, while additional Caribbean and Mexican destinations have been included in the airline’s expansion plans.
Tampa International Airport has also reported strong growth in Breeze’s operations. According to the airport’s announcement, the airline operated 73% more flights at TPA during the first half of 2026 than during the same period in 2025. It also projected that its available seats in January 2027 would exceed twice the January 2026 total.
The airline, founded by David Neeleman, focuses on connecting underserved markets with nonstop services. Its expansion at Tampa reflects an effort to broaden travel options across the United States, Central America and the Caribbean.
What the new route means for travelers
For passengers traveling between Tampa and the Dominican Republic, the new connection offers another nonstop option to Santo Domingo, complementing existing and planned services to other Dominican destinations, including Punta Cana. The route may also make visits to the capital more convenient for travelers who previously had to consider connecting itineraries.
Travelers should confirm flight availability, fares and operating dates directly with the airline before booking, particularly because the airport’s published materials differ on whether the Santo Domingo service will operate throughout the year or seasonally. The June 18, 2027, launch date and twice-weekly schedule are the details currently announced for the route.
