The Eduardo Brito National Theatre took part in Ethics Week 2026, an annual initiative organized by the General Directorate for Government Ethics and Integrity (DIGEIG) to promote ethical values, transparency, and accountability across the Dominican Republic’s public sector.
Held from April 27 to April 30, the nationwide program brought together public institutions to encourage a culture of integrity through educational activities, civic engagement, and professional development. The National Theatre said its participation reflects its ongoing commitment to strengthening ethical principles within the institution and supporting responsible public service.
Activities Focused on Ethical Awareness
The theatre joined the official launch of Ethics Week before organizing an internal awareness session for employees. The initiative was designed to highlight the importance of ethical conduct in the workplace and encourage staff members to serve as advocates for integrity within the organization.
As part of the program, the institution also promoted good governance practices through internal communications and awareness campaigns aimed at reinforcing ethical standards in the performance of public duties.
Training and Institutional Commitment
A virtual seminar on ethics in the public sector formed another key component of the week’s activities. The session emphasized the role of ethical conduct in strengthening transparency, regulatory compliance, and public trust in government institutions.
The National Theatre noted that ethics has increasingly evolved from a theoretical concept into a practical framework embraced by students, public servants, businesses, and citizens, reflecting broader progress in fostering a culture of integrity throughout the country.
Cultural Performance Closes the Week
The institution also participated in the official closing ceremony, held at the National Police Auditorium, where Laura Blanco and Margareth Frías represented the National Theatre.
The event concluded with a performance by the Dominican National Folkloric Ballet, directed by Maritza Reyes, whose presentation of traditional Dominican music and dance provided a cultural finale to the week’s activities.
According to DIGEIG, Ethics Week seeks to strengthen democratic values and the rule of law by promoting civic and ethical education, encouraging citizens and public institutions to support transparent, accountable, and integrity-driven governance.
