Xiaomi 17T Series smartphones with Leica camera system

Xiaomi Brings the 17T Series to the Dominican Republic With Leica Cameras and Large Batteries

Xiaomi has unveiled the new Xiaomi 17T Series for the Dominican Republic, expanding its smartphone lineup with two models designed to combine premium photography capabilities, powerful performance, and immersive displays. The series includes the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro, both of which will be available in the country beginning June 25, 2026.

One of the biggest additions to the T Series is the introduction of a Leica x5 telephoto camera on both models, marking the first time this feature has been included across Xiaomi’s T lineup. The camera system is intended to provide greater flexibility for portrait photography, close-up shots, and long-distance zoom while maintaining natural color reproduction and improved image detail.

Leica Camera System Expands Creative Options

Each device features a 50-megapixel main camera paired with Leica-developed optics. Xiaomi says the system has been designed to improve image quality in a variety of lighting conditions while offering more realistic colors and enhanced detail.

The new Leica x5 telephoto lens supports close focusing from approximately 30 centimeters as well as optical zoom and AI-assisted ultra zoom for distant subjects. Additional photography tools include Leica Live Portrait, aimed at producing more natural-looking portraits, and Ultra-HD Live Moment, which records 4K image sequences that allow users to select the best frame from moving scenes.

Xiaomi has also integrated creative editing features, including Leica-inspired watermarks and collage tools for users who regularly produce content directly from their smartphones.

AMOLED Displays With Eye Care Features

Both smartphones feature 1.5K AMOLED displays capable of reaching up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness, improving visibility outdoors under direct sunlight.

The company has also introduced its Xiaomi Vision Care technologies to reduce eye strain by minimizing blue light exposure, screen flicker, and other factors that can affect viewing comfort during extended use. According to Xiaomi, the 17T Series becomes the company’s first smartphone lineup to receive the TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care certification.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro adds a refresh rate of up to 144Hz and incorporates LIPO display technology, allowing for thinner bezels and a more immersive viewing experience. The standard Xiaomi 17T adopts a lighter and more compact design aimed at everyday portability.

Large Batteries and New MediaTek Processors

Battery life is another major focus of the new lineup. Both smartphones use next-generation silicon-carbon battery technology designed to increase energy density without significantly increasing device size.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro includes a 7,000mAh battery, which Xiaomi says is the largest battery it has introduced in an international smartphone. It supports 100W HyperCharge wired charging and 50W wireless charging, providing up to approximately two days of use under typical conditions.

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17T is equipped with a 6,500mAh battery and supports 67W HyperCharge. Both models are compatible with third-party PPS chargers.

Performance is powered by MediaTek’s latest chipsets. The Xiaomi 17T Pro features the new MediaTek Dimensity 9500 built on a 3nm process, while the Xiaomi 17T runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra using 4nm architecture. Xiaomi also includes its 3D IceLoop cooling system to help maintain stable performance during demanding workloads such as gaming, video recording, and multitasking.

The Xiaomi 17T Series will be available in the Dominican Republic starting June 25, 2026 through mobile operators including Claro and Altice.

Both smartphones will be offered with up to 24GB of RAM (12GB physical RAM plus up to 12GB virtual RAM) and 512GB of internal storage. The Xiaomi 17T Pro will be sold in Black and Dark Blue, while the Xiaomi 17T will be available in Black and Blue.
