The 31st Bonao Ecotourism and Production Fair will take place from November 5 to 15 in the La Salvia-Los Quemados-Blanco municipal district of Bonao, in the Dominican Republic’s Monseñor Nouel province. The event aims to raise the province’s profile as a destination for ecotourism, sustainable production and investment.

The Foundation for Science and Art (FCA), which organizes the fair, has announced that preparations are underway in coordination with a provincial organizing committee made up of local institutions. The initiative brings together tourism, agriculture and environmental interests to promote sustainable development in the region.

Russia to Be the Guest of Honor

Russia will participate as the guest of honor, represented by its ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Alexey Seredin. Haiti and El Salvador will also take part as special guests. Haiti will be represented by its ambassador, Fritz Lonchamps, while El Salvador’s Vice President, Félix Ulloa Jr., is expected to attend.

The international participation is intended to give the fair a broader platform for cooperation and exchanges around sustainable development and production. Organizers also hope to increase the visibility of Bonao and the surrounding communities among national and international audiences.

Water Fair and Livestock Exhibition Among New Features

Two of the main additions to this year’s program will be the First Water Fair and an expanded livestock exhibition.

The water-focused event is being organized in coordination with the Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA). The livestock exhibition will receive support from the Bonao Cattle Ranchers Association (AGABO), highlighting the agricultural sector’s role in the local economy.

These activities will complement the fair’s broader focus on ecotourism and sustainable production, connecting environmental priorities with farming and other productive activities in Monseñor Nouel province.

Preparations Underway in Bonao

FCA president Jacqueline Boin and founding president José Serulle Ramia announced that the formal launch of the installation work would be marked by a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for 11 a.m. at Manuel Matos’s farm. The property is located on Mayobanex Vargas y Vargas highway, near the intersection with Amiama Vargas Street, in the community hosting the event.

The organizing committee has been preparing the fair since January. Its work has involved institutions and volunteers from across the province, with support from local government, agricultural organizations and tourism stakeholders.

Organizers have recognized the contributions of AGABO president Fidel Medrano and COOPABO president Ambiorix Polanco, along with their teams. They also acknowledged Bonao mayor Eberto Núñez, tourism entrepreneur José Alberto De Jesús de los Santos, the Monseñor Nouel Ecotourism Council and provincial coordinator Magdelyn Genao.

A Platform for Sustainable Development

The fair is designed to showcase the natural resources and productive capacity of Bonao and neighboring communities while encouraging greater interest in sustainable investment. Its organizers see the event as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation among public institutions, businesses, agricultural producers and community groups.

Boin and Serulle Ramia have invited the public to attend the preparatory groundbreaking ceremony and support the initiative. They also thanked the participants in the organizing committee’s seventh assembly, held on July 23, and the volunteers assigned to the event’s working commissions.

With international representatives, agricultural exhibitions and a new focus on water, the November gathering will seek to connect environmental awareness with local economic development. The fair is scheduled to run for 11 days, from November 5 through November 15, 2026.
